Captains
At Minden State School, senior students have an opportunity to participate in the school’s leadership program. This program is designed to enhance students’ personal and public leadership qualities and forms the foundation for the school leadership program.
All leadership positions are decided before the end of the previous school year i.e. while the students nominating for the positions are still in Year 5. Year 5 students who wish to nominate for election into captain positions must meet criteria throughout Year 5, as a minimum acceptable period, before they will be endorsed as a candidate for the captain interview process.
The role of the leadership group is to:
actively promote our positive behaviour approach throughout the school
represent the student body via the Student Council
fundraise for selected school resources
Student Leaders
An added level of leadership within the school is provided through the Student Leader role. The position is available to students wanting to be involved in school leadership but not at the same level as Captains.
Student Council
All Captains and Student Leaders form the Student Council which meets regularly to discuss various topics such as fundraising, suggestions for improving the school, and lunchtime activities. Over the last few years, fundraising efforts have significantly contributed to grounds beautification and additions to the Nature Play area.
