Minden has a long and proud history as a sporting school. Our Physical Education teacher attends the school eack week to deliver instruction in the HPE curriculum. Our Sports Houses are Bunya (green) Ironbark (Blue) and Brigalow (red). Children are allocated to one of these houses upon enrolment. Our students participate in swimming carnivals, cross country, athletics carnivals, sports days and ball games carnivals. These activities are an opportunity for children to display the skills learned in their physical education lessons with emphasis on participation, experience and fun.
Interschool Sport
Students aged 9 to 12 years have the opportunity to engage with children from other schools through various sporting events such as Cross Country, Athletics Carnivals, Swimming Carnivals and Gala Days. As a member of the Brisbane Valley Small Schools cluster, children also have the opportunity of competing against neighbouring schools to gain selection in Lockyer Valley and Metropolitan West teams.
Swimming
Our school implements the Department of Education: Water Safety and Swimming Education Program. Lessons are conducted by an accredited swimming teacher with the assistance of school staff. Parent volunteers are welcome to assist especially with younger students. A fee is charged to help offset the cost of the lessons and bus travel to and from the venue.
