The Resource Centre is an integral part of teaching and learning at Minden. The open space design fosters flexible access to encourage collaboration and inquiry-based learning. The Resource
Centre is also used as an engaging lunchtime
space providing activities such as games, construction, puzzles, writing,
drawing, and a quiet area for children to relax and read.
The computer lab, in conjunction with class sets of laptops and iPads, is used extensively by all year levels as part of daily learning activities.
Library
Our library is a modern, air-conditioned space used for both formal and informal learning opportunities. All classes have allocated times each week to visit the library to return and borrow books and conduct research.
Library Borrowing
Students and staff are able
to borrow the library resources. All classes have an allocated time for borrowing books and are
encouraged to change books on a weekly basis. All students are given a maximum
of two weeks to return borrowed items.
Prep
and year 1 students may borrow one book at a time. This limit may increase
to two when children display responsible borrowing and returning behaviours.
Children in years
2-6 may borrow between two and three books per week. They
are encouraged to choose books of interest at their reading level.
All students are expected
to use an appropriate library bag (waterproof) to help protect the books.
